On December 12, 2020 Karina was a guest host for interactive livestream event Lit Balm, featuring Pui Ying Wong, Tim Suermondt, Gloria Mindock, and Anne Elezabeth Pluto.

On August 8, 2020 Karina was one of the featured readers for Lit Balm, a weekly interactive livestream reading series created and hosted by Marc Vincenz, Jonathan Penton, and Larissa Shmailo. The theme of the reading was Emerging Poets, and Karina read alongside fellow BU alums Lisa Rosinsky and D. Eric Parkison as well as Noah Burton! The virtual event is held every Saturday at 5:00pm.

Karina accepted a position as the Editorial Project Coordinator at MIT Sloan Management Review! MIT SMR is a publication about how the practice of management is transforming in the digital age.

Karina was a presenter at the Muse & the Marketplace Writing Conference, April 6-8 2018. Her lecture, "Queerer Than Fiction: The Importance of Realistic, Integral LGBT Characters" will discuss the way in which queer characters in fiction are more valuable than ever to reach a wider audience, diversify the world of the work, and provide representation to a marginalized community. She will co-present with author and editor Lisa Rosinsky.
April 2017
"The Fantasy of Hans Christian Andersen," a poem by KH van Berkum, is a finalist for the Rhysling Award awarded by the Science Fiction Poetry Association. This poem is also published in Strange Horizons Poetry and can be heard aloud on the journal's podcast, #22.

The Breakwater Reading Series has completed its 2016 season at the Brookline Booksmith bookstore in Coolidge Corner. Karina has been happy to be an organizer of this wonderful local event for the year, as well as a moderator, editor, and reader of her own work.

Karina has been awarded the Hurley Prize in Poetry by Boston University Director of Creative Writing Xuefei Jin, Karl Kirchwey, and former United States Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky.
