Karina van Berkum is a Pushcart nominated writer and editor. She grew up in rural New England and finds herself returning to the woods. She enjoys writing about family, childhood, queerness, animals, and the countries she’s traveled and worked, including Greenland, South Africa, Slovakia, Peru, and Austria. She was a 2016 Robert Pinsky Poetry Teaching Fellow at Boston University where she received the Hurley Prize in Poetry, and she has taught creative writing at GrubStreet and Boston University. Her work has appeared in publications such as Ploughshares, Five Points, Unlikely Stories, Woven Tales Press, Beltway Poetry Quarterly, The American Journal of Poetry, and Strange Horizons, for which she received a Rhysling Award nomination for outstanding poetry. Karina now lives in the woods in Vermont where she is the Editorial Project Coordinator for MIT Sloan Management Review and the co-editor of SpoKe, a poetry annual. Her first book, Warren, was published with MadHat Press in 2021.
